Econiture Shark Tank India Season 2 Episode 14

Econiture, a startup founded by Ashish Modak, Bhushan Boob, Madhur Rathi and Roshan Pidiyar, recently appeared on Shark Tank India to showcase their innovative solution for recycling plastic waste. By converting plastic waste into uniquely designed, strong and durable furniture, Econiture aims to not only reduce plastic waste but also decrease the need for metal mining and deforestation.

The company, which began its journey in 2017, has already used over 20,000 kg of plastic waste to create a range of products such as benches, chairs, and beach chairs. They approached the Sharks seeking an investment of Rs. 50 lakhs for 8% equity in their company.

Econiture’s unique business model not only includes creating furniture from recycled plastic but also includes a complementary waste management service. The team declared that their furniture brand generated Rs. 2.5 lakhs in sales last month, making up 40% of their business.

The Sharks were impressed by Econiture’s innovative approach to recycling plastic waste and creating unique designs. However, they raised concerns about the scalability of the brand and the lack of emphasis on the furniture aspect of the business. Peyush Bansal, one of the Sharks, even placed an order for 1,000 benches for his Lenskart showrooms.

Despite not receiving a deal, the Econiture team walked away with valuable insights and feedback from the Sharks. They plan to continue to work on scaling their B2C business and have stayed in touch with Amit Jain, one of the Sharks, for guidance. Econiture’s mission to convert plastic waste into long-lasting, sustainable furniture offers a promising solution for tackling the plastic waste crisis and promoting environmentally-friendly living.
